How do I continue making an impact while creating more flexibility, purpose, and control over my future?

The journey you’re about to read is one many successful sales leaders have taken while exploring what comes next.
Brian Ewing & Karl Elken
The Search For What’s Next
Like many successful sales leaders, Brian and Karl reached a point where they realized they still loved helping businesses grow.
They just weren’t sure another corporate chapter was the answer.
In this conversation, Karl shares is “why”.
Watch his story.
The Journey — Where Are You At?
Most successful sales leaders don’t wake up one morning knowing exactly what comes next.
The journey usually starts with a question.
1. Success Creates New Questions
You’ve built a successful career. Led teams. Delivered results. Helped businesses grow.
For years, success was measured by promotions, larger teams, bigger budgets, and greater responsibility. The challenges were exciting, and the opportunities kept coming. But over time, many leaders begin asking different questions. The travel that once felt exciting now means more time away from family and friends. The management responsibilities seem to grow while the time spent coaching, mentoring, and building teams shrinks. Corporate reorganizations, leadership changes, and the seemingly endless cycle of changing roles every 18 to 24 months can leave even the most successful executives wondering if there’s a different path. You still enjoy helping businesses grow. You still love sales leadership. But you begin asking yourself a simple question:
Is this really how I want to spend the next 10-15 years?
2. Exploring What’s Possible
You know you want something different.
Once the questions begin, many leaders find themselves exploring a wide range of possibilities. Some consider consulting. Others look at buying a business or building one from scratch. For some, the appeal is creating something of their own. For others, it’s finding a way to leverage decades of experience in a more flexible and meaningful way. The challenge isn’t a lack of opportunities—it’s determining which path aligns with your skills, goals, lifestyle, and vision for the future. Many executives spend months, and sometimes years, evaluating options, talking with trusted advisors, and searching for the right fit. The search isn’t about escaping a career you’ve enjoyed. It’s about finding a next chapter that feels both exciting and sustainable.
Do I build something, buy something, or is there another path I haven’t discovered yet?
3. Looking For More Than A Paycheck
The next chapter isn’t just about income.
At this stage, many leaders begin to redefine what success looks like. Financial rewards still matter, but they are no longer the primary driver behind every decision. Purpose becomes more important. Impact becomes more important. Time becomes more important. Many executives discover they want to spend more time helping people grow, mentoring future leaders, and contributing to something meaningful. They also realize that community matters. The relationships, shared experiences, and collaboration that come from being surrounded by talented people become just as valuable as the work itself. The focus begins to shift from climbing the next ladder to creating a life and career that align with what matters most.
How do I continue making an impact while creating the life I want to live?
4. Ready For The Next Chapter
You still love helping businesses grow.
You still enjoy mentoring people, solving problems, developing teams, and creating results. What has changed is your definition of success. You’re no longer chasing titles, larger organizations, or the next rung on the corporate ladder. Instead, you’re looking for a way to leverage everything you’ve learned while creating greater flexibility, purpose, and control over your future. You want to spend your time making an impact, working with people you enjoy, and contributing in a meaningful way. The experience you’ve built over decades still has tremendous value, but now you have the opportunity to apply it differently. For many leaders, this is where the search begins to transform into a plan.
What would it look like to build the next chapter on my own terms?
Every journey is different. We’d love to hear your story and shares ours.
Why We’re Passionate About What We Do
At Sales Geek, we believe sales is more than a profession.
It’s a life skill.
Every day, we help business owners grow, leaders develop, and teams achieve more than they thought possible.
We’re passionate about changing the way the world perceives sales—from a function that simply generates revenue to a profession that creates opportunity, builds confidence, and helps businesses thrive.
That’s why we do what we do.
That’s why we’ve built a community of leaders who are committed to helping businesses grow while developing the people around them.
Watch Richard Few explain why “Changing the way the World Perceives Sales” matters.
Sales is a Team Sport
One of the biggest surprises for many Sales Geeks isn’t the business model.
It’s the community.
Many successful sales leaders spend years working inside organizations, collaborating with talented people, sharing ideas, solving problems, and helping teams succeed. When they begin exploring what’s next, one concern often surfaces:
“Will I be doing this alone?”
At Sales Geek, the answer is no.
Our belief is simple:
Sales is a team sport.
While every Geek is building their own business, nobody builds it alone.
You’ll be surrounded by experienced sales leaders who understand the challenges, opportunities, and realities of helping businesses grow. Ideas are shared. Wins are celebrated. Challenges are discussed openly. Whether it’s a question about a client, a sales strategy, or simply needing another perspective, there is always someone willing to help.
The result is something many leaders didn’t expect to find:
A community of peers committed to helping each other succeed.
What If One Conversation Changed Everything?
Most Sales Geeks didn’t wake up one morning knowing exactly what they wanted to do next.
They started with a conversation.
A conversation about career, purpose, family, impact, and what the next chapter could look like.
Fifteen minutes won’t change your life.
But it might change how you think about what’s possible.
If any part of this journey feels familiar, we’d love to hear your story and share ours.
No presentation.
No pressure.
Just a conversation.
